Smoked Bones - We do not recommend smoked bones as most smoked bones contain nitrates (preservatives). A big concern is many smoked bones available in today’s pet food shops are made in China. Similarly to the jerky treat concerns from China, smoked bones are not something we would suggest offering regularly to your pet.

Meal Replacement Bones & Recreational Bones - Meal replacement bones are usually non-weight bearing bones that can be eaten entirely. The total weight of the bone counts towards your pet’s total daily food intake as well. Good examples of meal replacement bones would be Naturals Bare Bones - Lamb.

Recreational Bones are weight bearing or hardened bone that is more of a complicated chew. These often have some meat and sinews but are predominately bone and are not intended to be eaten entirely. Good examples of a recreational chewing bone is Marrow bone, or our Naturals Bare Bones - Beef.

How many bones should you feed - With LUNA & me complete meals bones are optional. If you choose to feed bones, we suggest 1 raw bone per week. You can of course choose to feed more or less than this amount. Ideally it should be a mix of both meal replacement and recreational chewing bones.

Bones provide dental benefit (cleaner teeth and gums) but also mental and physical exercise as well. Chewing a raw bone for 30 minutes is equal to a 30 min. walk for your dog.

Why should you feed raw bones - Raw bones provide your dog with physical and mental exercise. Chewing for approximately 20 – 30 min. is equal to a 30 min. brisk walk for your pet! On rainy days, or during colder winter months chewing a raw bone is a great way to provide your pet with additional physical and mental exercise.

Another amazing benefit to a raw bone is it’s ability to clean off plaque and tartar. Raw bones help to clean teeth and gums, and results can be seen in as quickly as 2 -3 days! Clean teeth and gums means fresher breath and a healthier dog!

Fruit and Vegetables add texture and fibre to your dog’s raw meals.
The addition of fruit and vegetables also add trace minerals and vitamins that are not easily found in animal protein sources alone.

The antioxidant properties and many health benefits of fruit and vegetables are also good reasons why your raw fed dog should enjoy a small portion of fruit and vegetables as part of a balanced and complete raw diet.

We add fruit and vegetables to all our SuperBlends, Puppy Working Dog & Adult Working Dog recipes.

To ensure nutrient balance we would suggest that fruit and vegetables not exceed 20% of the overall diet.

As our products are made in small batches, using natural butcher-quality ingredients, colour and texture may vary from batch to batch.

We passionately believe the freezer is the best place to store our food, it means the quality is never compromised and you are able to waste less. We never add any nasty preservatives or chemicals to our food, we don't want to eat them so why should we make our pets?

Freezing is natures best way of preserving food. We are able to help you reduce your waste at home by using your freezer. We individually portion and wrap our food so you can take what you need, when you need it and leave the rest for another day.

ALL of our packaging is fully recyclable. From recycled materials; produced, sourced and made in the UK.

We appreciate that packaging is a sensitive subject and nobody takes it more seriously than us, however, there is lot of headline grabbing statements about packaging both plastic, plant based and biodegradable that are simply untrue.

We have spent a lot of time making conscious decisions for our business regarding our packaging and none of the choices we make are taken lightly and all are made with the environment in mind.

We believe in the production process of 'closing the loop’ where recycled packaging waste is collected, recycled and used to make new products, and we believe that this is where our efforts should be focused, on education and accountability from us as consumers, decision makers, councils and ultimately our government, put quite simply we are not doing enough to make this happen.  Especially companies who are using so called bio-degradable and plant based packaging as a badge of honour without looking into how those single-use products are actually produced and the damage they are causing to our fragile environment, all of which is diverting attention from the main issue, how we handle waste.

When we consider ‘anything’ for LUNA & me, we start with the environmental impact, ensuring our environmental footprint remains as small as possible.  We care deeply about our natural world, and yes we did say world!

Our Patty trays are made from EcoPET. An innovative, lightweight, 100% recycled/recyclable, lower carbon footprint packaging material.

Did you know? Patty trays reduce food waste to zero, and are sealed to lock in quality and freshness.

Our cardboard sleeves that surround our Patty trays are completely bio-degradable, made from FSC registered cardboard, and can be easily recycled after use, or added to your compost heap if you have one.

When you see the FSC's 'tick tree' logo on a product it means that it comes from products certified under the FSC system. When you see the FSC logo on a label, you can buy forest products with confidence that you are helping to ensure our forests are alive for generations to come.

Our Mince boxes are completely bio-degradable, made from PEFC registered cardboard, and can be easily recycled after use, or added to your compost heap if you have one.

When you see the PEFC label on a product, it means that it comes from a PEFC-certified forest (obviously, only the forest-based material within the product). A PEFC-certified forest is a forest that is managed in line with the strictest environmental, social and economic requirements. A forest that will be around for generations to come.

Our Insulated boxes are ‘food-safe’ and made from EPS.
Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is much greener than you think! EPS is similar to a balloon because their shapes are both made up of 98% air.

To keep our environmental footprint as small as possible, for those further afield we encourage you to repurpose our packaging where possible.

To meet our quality standards, we only source from people we know and trust, farmers and growers that measure up. It’s hard to get on our list – and for good reason. Our suppliers must meet our strict standards for food safety and health as well as sustainability and fair trade practices, and if ‘I won’t eat it’ I promise ‘it doesn’t go in our food’.

All of our ingredients are butcher-quality, from government inspected producers. This means you can be confident that the meat in your pet’s raw food is the highest quality and subject to the same strict inspection standards as the food intended to feed your family.

We test for germs! The LUNA & me kitchen ensures that all of our recipes meet our rigorous standards. We test our extraordinary raw dog & cat foods to rule out anything that could possibly hurt your pet. That includes things you can only see under a microscope, like: bacteria, such as salmonella.

Our products are frozen at temperatures below – 20 degrees to maximise the nutrients in our freshly prepared raw food. Our facility is equipped with a Temperature Monitoring System to ensure all products remain at a constant frozen state from the date of production to the day of despatch, so you can feel confident that your product will arrive safely at your doorstep.

On Repeat offers you the ultimate in flexibility; because On Repeat puts you in control.

Add any product to On Repeat, allowing you to create your own order, specific to the needs and preferences of your pet.

It’s simple - you choose which of your pet’s favourite products you want On Repeat and tell us how often you want to receive them, and we’ll take it from there. The service is easy to use, and you can make any changes, pause or cancel items online whenever you need. What’s more, you’ll receive 5% off every On Repeat order!

On Repeat is easy, and you can do so whilst browsing on a product page. To get started, simply select the On Repeat option for your desired item, select your preferred delivery frequency and then check out as usual. Your On Repeat will then be set for future orders of your items.

Once you have On Repeat, you’ll receive an email confirming your order. To manage your future orders, your On Repeat schedule, and your On Repeat account details please visit your account on our website, selecting 'Manage On Repeat'.

Your first order will be placed as normal and arrive in the time stated in our delivery schedule. Then we’ll place all future orders automatically, according to your selected frequency, and you’ll only be billed on the day your order processes. There’s a minimum of 1 week between orders and a maximum of 12 weeks and you can set up more than one On Repeat order so the service is very flexible.

Change your next charge date: To change the charge date of your next On Repeat order, please log in to your account and visit Mange On Repeat in the website's 'My Account' section.

Select 'Manage your Orders' and click 'Edit' on one of the products.

Select 'Next charge date'.  A calendar will pop up for you to choose the date.  Please ensure that all products on order have been updated by selecting the update other orders tick box.

Skip a delivery: To skip the next delivery on your On Repeat order, please log in to your account and visit Mange On Repeat in the website's 'My Account' section.

Select 'Manage your Orders' and click 'Edit' on one of the products.

Cancel or Pause LUNA & me On repeat: With LUNA & me On Repeat, Pause is known as Deactivate. It's easy to use and don't worry, you can reactivate at any time. To deactivate the entire order you must ensure that you deactivate all items in your schedule.

To deactivate products from your On Repeat, visit 'Manage On Repeat' and click the 'Edit' button to the right of the products you wish to remove/pause, then click 'Deactivate On Repeat'.

The page will then refresh, and you will be able to view all active products and those that are inactive. Please make sure that all orders on your On Repeat are deactivated.

To check or make changes to your On Repeat account information, please visit the 'Manage On Repeat' section located within your account.

To amend your delivery address for future orders, you will need to log into your account on our website & visit 'My Account' then 'Manage On Repeat'. You then want to 'Manage your delivery address', select the drop down then 'edit address'. A pop-up will appear on the side for you to enter your address details.

You’ll need to press 'Save' and confirm that your updated information saved successfully. We ask that you allow up to 24 hours for changes or cancellations to be processed.

Yes you can. To add items to your existing On Repeat, please log in to your account and visit Mange On Repeat in the 'My Account’ section of the website.

You then want to 'Manage your Orders' and click ‘Add A Product’. A pop up with then appear allowing you to search and select the product you would like to add.

Remember to make sure when adding a new product to your On Repeat, it matches the frequency and next charge date of the other products in the order.

Once you have added all the items that you need to, you can see and confirm your changes.

All of our On Repeat orders require a credit or debit card payment. We’re afraid we can’t accept other payment forms, such as PayPal for these orders.

To change your card details for your On Repeat, log in to your account and visit ‘My Account’ & ‘Manage your saved cards’.

Select drop down of the card you wish to amend and click 'Edit Payment Method'. A pop-up will then show, allowing you to enter your new card details.

This is never our recommendation!
Generally speaking raw and dry digest differently. For this reason we suggest avoiding feeding both at the same time.

Option 1 – Patties
Each patty weighs 100g and patties come in packs of 3.

Option 2 - Mince
Each box weighs 750g. It may be necessary to weigh out your pets daily portion with a kitchen scale.

Food should be served at room temperature. A bowl of fresh water should be nearby.

We recommend breaking Patties into bite-sized pieces and forking over Mince to serve.

Feeding requirements depend on the amount of exercise, age, breed, environmental factors, neutered status and individual variation.

We recommend feeding your adult dog or cat 2-3% of his ideal body weight a day, divided into two meals.
We recommend feeding your puppy dog or kitten 5-7% of his ideal body weight a day, divided between meals.

This can be used as a general guide, together with good sense and experience.

To thaw food safely we recommend the following:

Yes, but this is not our recommended method of thawing our products. If you have forgotten to thaw food, often sitting food in some lukewarm water will help thaw it quickly.

The best and easiest way to determine how much to feed is to use our Food Calculator. Enter your pet’s actual weight to determine how much food your pet requires.

Another recommendation is to feed your pet 2-3% of your pet’s ideal body weight. Simply take the total and divide into how many meals per day. For example 20kg dog x 2.5% = 5. This means your pet requires 5 x Patties or 500g per day. Divided into two meals = 2.5 Patties or 250g per meal.

Cats dietary needs are not significantly different from dogs, but the differences are very important!

Here are the two main differences:

Cats are obligate carnivores. This means they have no dietary necessity to eat fruit and vegetables. All the essential vitamins and minerals your cat requires can be found in a diet of meat, bone and organ meat (in proper ratios).

Cats have an absolute requirement for an essential amino acid – Taurine. Cats do not have the capability to create taurine from methionine and cysteine as dogs do. This means that a cat must ingest sufficient taurine in order to meet its taurine requirements. The excellent news is LUNA & me meals are properly formulated to contain sufficient taurine for your cat.

All of LUNA & me raw meals meet the minimum requirement for taurine.

Where taurine exceeds the recommended dietary minimums, this is not concerning as excessive taurine is flushed by the kidneys.

Many dogs with anal gland issues have had the anal gland sacks manually expressed by their vet or groomer. Routine manual expression of the glands can cause inflammation and swelling which can aggravate and increase the frequency of blocked glands.
